5 Home Remedies on Dry skin

It is one of the common conditions with many causes. Usually dry skin is caused by environmental factors that remove moisture from your skin. 

Things like heat, harsh soaps, arid climates can trigger dry skin. You can use below home remedies to restore your moisture.

1. Coconut oil

Coconut oil has emollient properties. This helps to fill spaces between skin cells, creating a smooth surface. You must use coconut oil daily on most sensitive parts of your body. Areas under your eyes, and mouth. Coconut oil can be mixed with anything and is gentle enough to use everyday.

2. Petroleum jelly

It can help to heal skin in older people. It is also known as Mineral oil which covers the skin in a protective layer. Which helps to trap moisture underneath skin.

3. Oatmeal baths

Oatmeal is most common remedy used for irritated skin. Colloidal oatmeal has anti- inflammatory properties and antioxidants that soothe irritation. This remedy will give you relieve from itching. You may also make oatmeal bath at home. Use a food processor to chop oatmeal in powder form. Mix it with warm water. 

4. Antioxidants and omega-3s

Dry skin means you are exposing your skin to elements which are damaging your skin fast. There are few foods that can help your skin to look healthier

  • blueberries
  • tomatoes
  • carrots
  • beans
  • peas
  • lentils

This Foods are rich in omega-3 fatty acids like salmon.


Hands are mostly connected with all irritants. These include dish soap and laundry detergent.  Always wear gloves when your hands are in water. 

Also wear insulated gloves while doing household chores, or when your outside in extreme temperatures.
