Must-Try Donuts in L.A

Spread the love

Donuts were invented nearly 200 years ago and have been popular all over the world ever since. They are a multi-billion dollar industry. However, in the larger context of time and space, 200 years are just a moment. L.A. has some of the best doughnuts on this planet. So, it would be really stupid to turn black and fade to nothingness without eating these donuts.

Fresh Strawberry from The Donut Man
This Glendora doughnut shop is an absolute institution. The seasonal strawberry donut is the main reason. When the fried dough fuses together with that sticky strawberry goo, it creates fruit pastry singularity. It is the best feeling in the world.

Blueberry Bourbon Basil from Blue Star
They call their doughnut as “brioche”. The doughnut is bathed in fine liquor and herbs.

Peanut Butter and Banana from Stan’s
Stan’s predates all the Grand Marnier pastry cream donuts and the recent basil-infused sugar. This 40-year-old Westwood corner spot was spot on when they filled fresh bananas and peanut butter into fried dough and slathered it in chocolate.

Glazed SKronut from SK’s Donuts and Croissants
All you need to know is that this is the best cronut knockoff in the entire L.A.

Crumb Cake from Bob’s Coffee & Doughnuts
Cake donuts are usually a sad sham compared to their superior counterparts. But not at Bob’s. Bob’s cake donuts taste nothing like their competitors’ dried-out-boxed-cake-mix. They still have that glutenous chew. Bob’s may also have the best custard-filled chocolate bar in L.A. Make sure you eat that as well before you die.

Fresh Fruit Cruller from Plan Check
Plan Check’s crullers could easily pass as a churro if shaped differently. These doughnuts come with in-season fruits and are served on a bed of pastry cream. They are just fantastic!

Ube Crumb from DK’s Donuts
DK’s is leading L.A.’s shock-doughnut movement. They have six varieties of cronut knockoff and something called pizza doughnut. But they also offer some legitimately tasty and unique combos. Ube is a Filipino purple yam, and it gets infused into a cake donut then topped with its own crumbs.
