No matter how much we complained about our bosses being reluctant at approving our work from home leaves, presently, we’re in an opposite situation. Being in a situation where we’re forced to work from home is a bliss for some and challenging for others. There are so many distractions, right from the whistles of our pressure cooker whilst in the meeting to our doorbells ringing unexpectedly. We all have been there. In this article, we’re going to be sharing five easy steps to boost your productivity as you continue to work from home.
Maintain A Strict Daily Routine
Just because we’ve been working out of home doesn’t mean our daily schedule should be haywire. It’s still important to go to bed in time and wake up in time. Follow a routine as you’d do on a ‘normal’ working day. Pretend that you’re going to work and dress up accordingly if you find yourself hopping in bed now and then after starting work. Diligently set tasks for yourself and write them down and keep ticking them off as you progress. It really helps when you’ve got a checklist ready as you tend to monitor it timely as compared to when you set tasks in mind.
Choose A Dedicated Workspace
Find yourself a comparatively silent place and turn it into a workplace. Do not prefer being in bed or on couch while working. Although you might be tempted to work from the comfort of your beloved bed, it may affect your productivity. Try setting up a desk if possible. Having a dedicated workspace will help you stay alert, aware and more confident.
Keep Personal Time Away From Work
Take frequent breaks if need be but don’t erase lines between your work and family time. Agreed, it will be hard to ignore your roomies around you, but have a specific period of time in a day dedicated to them and get back to work after that slot. While working, don’t let your family members be around you for longer than usual. It could be your spouse, parents, children, pets or anyone. It’s important to set some boundaries while working from home to efficiently carry out the daily tasks in time.
Stay In Touch With Your Teammates
Although we’re socially distanced, keep yourself updated about your colleagues and keep them updated about you. Work in coordination with them as this will keep you motivated to achieve the tasks you’ve set for yourself. You can do this twice or thrice a week by connecting with them over a call, skype or messaging. However, make sure you have your professional and personal level of coordination well defined and adhered to.
Follow A Healthy Regime
Staying active has a lot to do with your diet and healthy practices. Keep yourself physically active for at least 30 minutes a day. It helps you stay productive throughout the day. Follow a healthy diet. If you find yourself having to munch on something amidst work, keep healthy snacks handy near your desk or workplace. Also, make it a habit to start and end your day in time so that you’ve enough time to do miscellaneous activities which can lighten up your mood and prep you up for the following day.
